Last Sunday morning I'm sitting at my kitchen table reading the paper. I look up and see a man outside on my patio!

My patio is in my backyard, behind a normally locked fence & gate and then down a flight of stairs. No one should ever be on my patio unless they've been invited. He's lucky that my dog wasn't outside. He'd have been bitten for sure.

I politely ask the stranger what he was doing and he presented a city of Troy laminated "badge" and said he was from Gar associates and was doing a reassessment on my home and property.

I guess Troy figures we all not paying enough taxes currently and want to charge us all more more more.

I didn't appreciate this guy making his way on to my property without ringing the doorbell or knocking on the door.

And, I'm sure I won't appreciate it when my property/school taxes go up as a result of the reassessment.

To do an exterior check of your property is one thing, but finding a stranger on your patio???? Wrong!!

All private real estate property is being reassessed in the City of Troy...First time the whole place is being reassessed in 30? years. I doubt your taxes will go up. More likely your place, my place and our neighbors houses will all get fairly evaluated and the tax load will be more EQUITABLY shared among those who have recently (10 year !) bought homes and those who have been in one place for many years.

Annee no offense but if you think the city is going through all the effort and cost of this gigatic city wide reassessment so our taxes can stay the same or go down... you're looking through rose colored glasses. Unfortunately, I think you'll be singing a different tune when your new tax bill shows up.

M Mitchell it did scare the bejesus out of me! Looking up from reading my sunday news paper and seeing a stealthy stranger on my patio. Not cool at all.

i had the same thing happen to me. I come home to find a note on my door that these folks were in my yard and the gate was not closed propperly and my teacup Yorkie was raoming around the neighborhood until i got home. I was not happy at all and called to express my concerns and all I got was sorry next time we come out we will be mindful.
Next time I would like to be notified first so I can put a big pad lock on my gate so they can';t get in!!!!

They should be arrested for trespassing on PRIVATE PROPERTY and we can be sued if they get injured on our property! No one will be paying their "fair share" because the Mayor gives PILOT programs to all the new businesses that come to Troy so WE will be paying their fair share for 20yrs or so. No one's taxes will go DOWN believe me...this is a smoke and screen job if ever and Troy is famous for it. Watch for the reassessments of those who are in power lets see how much they go up it should be interesting...
